The
OLD BUSINESS
Secretary’s Report:
There were no minutes of the last meeting to review.
Treasurer’s Report:
Cathy Hargrove gave the financial report. We have an ending balance of $7,620.79.
The team has been able to purchase a lot of needed equipment.
One new touch pad has been purchased. The two faulty touch pads will be sent back to be repaired. It was found that they may be repaired at ¼ of the cost of a new pad.
NEW BUSINESS
Y Summer Swim Team
Coach Kevin reported that the summer season went well. There are 5 swimmers going to Summer Nationals. There is a need for more parent volunteers at the home meets. This will be discussed in length before the next summer season. There is a plan to have a Y summer swim team again next year. A banquet will be held for all the summer swimmers with Coach Kevin at Donatos Pizza. Coach Kevin will set it up.
Coach Kevin has scheduled all of the meet dates for the
Pool Closing
Stacy reported that the Wendal pool will be closed for approx. 3 weeks beginning Sat. July 24th. The pool will be drained, cleaned and painted.
Thanks to the donations from the LYST Swim Team and Fairfield Foundations renovations will begin on the pump room. A new pump has been purchased and will be installed. The old working motor will be stored to be used as a replacement motor.
Important Dates
The date for Winter Champs has been changed to March 11, 12 & 13. Check the league website for updates. The dates for Zones will remain the same. Jim DePietro has already reserved 30 rooms. This was done early to ensure good accommodations.
An official’s class will be held soon. (Date to be announced) There is always a need for more officials.
Invitational Update
Our Invitational is now posted on the Web page. It will be posted on the league Web-site soon. Reminder cards will be sent to each team prior to the Entry packets. It was brought up that it may be a good idea to hand deliver all the Entry Packets to the coaches at the next league meeting.
Our Invitational is our biggest fund-raiser and we are still in need of committee members. Jim has drafted a letter to all parents that will be mailed out as well as posted on our web-site. It was brought up that it may be a good idea to ask the parents to choose an invitational job on the Swim Team Registration forms. There may be a need to hire an outside organization to handle the concessions. This will be a last resort as this would greatly reduce our profits.
Larry Stout will donate his sound system for us to use during the invitational. Thank-you Larry.
Jim will contact Ron Heiber about the Invitational advertising.
All committee members should get together and have a report ready at the August meeting. We want to know where we stand prior to the Registration Meeting in September.
Y Update
Stacy reported that there is a new computer system at the Y. There will now be 3 payment options to pay for swim team fees.
He also reported that the Y will not be increasing swim team fees this year but there will be a raise in the late charge. There will be an additional charge of $10 added to all accounts not paid on time. Any swimmer still owing past due fees from a previous swim season will not be allowed to register for this year until their account is brought current.
Other news
Corina will be the team’s communication liaison. There is some concern that parents are not getting/understanding needed information. She will make sure that all team information is posted on the bulletin board, put into the mail boxes and/or given to Jackie to post on the web site. We would like for e-mail to be our primary course of communication.
Jim will have the team handbooks ready. He is waiting on dates and other information.
Cathy announced that the Team Booster Fees may need to be increased due to entry fees at champs going up.
Corina will get information on purchasing a new larger team bulletin board for the hallway.
Debbie has the team’s top ten times ready to be posted at the Y. Stacy will take care of getting this done.
The next meeting will be on
Friday
Meeting adjourned.
