LYST STEERING COMMITTEE

MEETING MINUTES

MONDAY, JULY 2, 2007 – 5:30 PM

Attendance:

Larry Stout, Beth Daugherty, Stacy McQueary

~ Summer Champs will be on July 14 & July 15 at Ohio University. LYST needs to provide volunteers for announcers and the Colorado timing system for both days. Beth will post volunteer sign up sheets on the bulletin board.

~ Summer Nationals will take place on July 31 - August 3 at the University of Maryland. Coach Kevin Yates has requested hotel accommodations for the swimmers and himself, and Larry Stout was going to confirm 10-11 rooms. It was agreed to provide silicone “National” swim caps to those participants and will specialize with the swimmers names, as Coach Kevin will provide the list of names to us on July 16th. It was also discussed & recommended by Coach Kevin, to possibly provide a warm up jacket to the National qualifiers in lieu of money that LYST typically gives the swimmers. Then perhaps the following year, the matching pants could be given to coordinate with the jacket, if the swimmers qualified.

~ The LYST Summer Banquet will take place on Thursday, July 19th at 5:30 pm. The location is TBA. The considerations are the YMCA’s new play area, and the Lancaster Campground Shelter House. Stacy will confirm what option is available. LYST will provide grilled hamburgers & hot dogs, and all table service. Assignments will be listed on the bulletin board & website for the following, based on age groups: 10 & Unders = Drinks (canned soda & bottled water), 11/12 years = Desserts, 13 & older = Appetizers/Side Dishes. It was also discussed to provide each swimmer a swim t-shirt instead of a trophy, as they will receive medals/ribbons from Summer Champs.

~ Stacy reported the search for a new swim coach is still ongoing. They are hopeful to have interviews within the next few weeks, with a final decision being made & reported by August 1st.

~ The position of treasurer is still available and currently trying to get this position filled.

The next LYST steering committee meeting will be on Monday, July 23, 2007 at 5:30 pm.
