LYST Officers Meeting

I respectfully submit the following minutes from the meeting dated August1, 2006. The meeting opened with a review of the previous meeting minutes. Minutes were accepted as presented.

I presented the LYST Volunteer Credit Summary for review and discussion. The program was voted on. Those presented all voted yes to institute the new program. The officers not present to vote on the issue were Norah Ginty and Teresa Sprouse. With 3 yes votes the programs passed with the necessary majority of officers voting to pass the measure.

The specifics of the credit volunteer system were discussed. The amount of credits needed per family per season would be determined by number of registered swim families and number of home meets per season. The program would require approval by the Aquatics director and YMCA director. The credits needed for home meets would be separate from the credits for the invitational. Home meet credits this year would be 3 for each family. The exception would be families who have only a high school swimmer who also swims Y would be required to earn 2 credits. The amount of credits for the invitational was not been determined. Credits per job were discussed and will be made available to the families at registration.

We discussed the registration set up for August 27, 2006. Larry Stout would work on re-usable sheet for home meet sign-up sheet. Jim D. would work with Stacy to update the LYST handbook to be ready for registration. Jim D. would contact Norah G. to see if she had created the summary sheet for the season fees.

USA swimming fees were discussed. Larry, Tammy and I voted yes to incorporate a new $25.00 fee paid directly to LYST parents committee to be used for coaches expenses.

Tammy presented last years LYST invitational packet with some modifications already made for 2006 Invitational. Events were modified to add the 1,000 yard and it was determined to allow modified deck entries. Other minimal changes would be updated as info became available such as rule changes etc. Entries would be allowed if room existed in a heat and there was an open lane. No additional heats would be made to add a swimmer(s). Teams would be assessed additional increased charges for deck entries.

Next meeting is August 22 at the Y at 4PM.
