LYST Parents Meeting

May 22, 2005

1.                  Meeting was called to order by Jim DePietro.

2.                  Minutes from the April 5th meeting were presented and approved.

3.                  Cathy reported that the current balance in the checking account is $12,715.90, with no outstanding bills.

4.                  Jim reported that clean-up and inventory was completed as scheduled on May 3rd. He noted that the scoring platform still needs to be cleaned and taken apart for storage.

5.                  Kevin reported that spring conditioning is going very well, with about 40 swimmers participating. The final date for conditioning is May 27.

6.                  Kevin reported that sign-ups are underway for the summer Y swim team which begins practice on May 31. We will be hosting two meets in June, and will be in need of volunteers to help run these meets. Jim has volunteered to run the timing console. Ron has tentatively agreed to serve as head official/starter for the June 2nd meet. Schedule is posted on the LYST  website.

7.                  Changes for the 2006 SEOWV Cluster Championships were discussed. Champs will be a 3-day event, with longer races on Friday evening. 11 and up swimmers will compete on Saturday, with a two-session meet on Sunday with 8 and under and 9-10 swimmers competing in separate sessions. League representatives feel these changes will make champs run more efficiently. Senior events will be scored, but will count towards the number of events a swimmer is permitted to swim. 100 yard events will be added for 11-12 swimmers.

8.                  Dave has agreed to conduct another officials’ clinic at our facility, tentatively scheduled for sometime in October.

9.                  The LYST Invitational is confirmed for November 12 and 13, 2005. Information/Entry packet will be posted on the league website. Committee chairpersons have been identified. Participation is expected to increase this year, and we will need everyone’s help for a successful meet.

10.              Jim reported that we will need two new touch pads and a patch cord for the timing system. A motion to purchase these items was made by Sue, seconded by Lis. Motion carried. Jim will follow up.

11.              Software upgrades for Meet Manager and Team Manager are available. A motion to purchase the upgrades was made by Lis, seconded by Sue. Motion carried. Ron will follow up.

12.              Kevin presented a list of training equipment needed for the team, including 12 pull buoys, 20 hand paddles, 2 stretch cords, a new resistance cord for the Vasa Trainer, and 25 pair Zoomers training fins. A motion to purchase these items was made by Sue, seconded by Lis. Motion carried. Kevin will follow up.

13.              Next meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 19 at 5:30 p.m.

14.              Meeting adjourned to executive session.
